FAQs

  • After you’ve made your appointment for a virtual consult you will be sent a link to join a secure video call (either via email or txt). When it is time for your appointment click on the text link if you are on your mobile phone or the email if you are on your computer or iPad. This will take you to a virtual waiting room and we will find you from there. If you would rather have your consult over the phone let us know via email when you make the appointment. Virtual is ideal and on a computer is even better.

  • No, you don’t need a referral letter. Most of our patients book directly with us. If you have any relevant recent bloods or information regarding your health, you are welcome to bring this with you or email to us ahead of your appointment.

  • We are able to provide you with a prescription. The cost of a prescription is included in both initial and follow-up consultations. There will be an additional pharmacy charge per item, depending upon the medication prescribed.

We are able to provide repeat scripts at a charge of $30 per script. Following your initial consultation, we would need to see you every six months for a follow up consult if we are to provide ongoing prescriptions.

  • Yes, we do prescribe body identical hormone therapy. These are hormone medications chemically identical to the hormones made naturally in the body. They are the safest forms of hormone replacement treatment. This differs to compounded hormone therapy which is not subject to the same regulation and research as body identical hormone therapy. We do not prescribe compound hormonal therapy.

  • In New Zealand, Testosterone is licensed for hypoactive sexual desire disorder/low libido. Yes, we do prescribe it if it is appropriate for you following your consultation. Testosterone treatment requires a blood test to check your baseline testosterone levels to ensure we don’t over treat. Following the initial consultation, you will need a follow up consultation to go over the blood results and advise whether testosterone treatment is appropriate for you. After 3 months of treatment, a repeat blood test is required to guide further dosages.

  • We can be contacted by email after your initial consult for small adjustments and questions. We may suggest booking a 20-minute follow up consult for more involved issues. We would generally recommend a follow-up consult after 3 months to go over treatments and make any adjustments.

  • Sometimes blood tests are required to check for any other causes of symptoms and to monitor absorption levels of some treatments such as oestrogen patches. Testosterone therapy requires an initial blood test to check your baseline testosterone level and a follow up blood test 3 months after starting treatment to check levels and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Cancellations with a full refund are available with at least 48 hours’ notice. If you need to cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice we are unlikely to be able to fill this appointment and a refund is not available.

  • If you have GP cover as part of your policy, this is something you would need to discuss with your insurance provider. We require payment upfront and will provide you with an invoice, which you can then pass on to your provider.
